This years San Francisco Decorator Showcase is a beautiful mix of old and new with an emphasis on a unique set of juxtaposed details thanks to Catherine Kwong and the other talented designers. Catherine designed the Living area of this amazing home and I love this space just as much as I loved her own beautiful home!
Catherine Kwong designs a decadent rock 'n roll hideaway for the 2013 San Francisco Decorator Showcase. With custom furnishings and an emphasis on luxe materials, Catherine Kwong brings her signature elegance and modern point of view to create a grand living room. “The design was inspired by Mick and Bianca Jagger in the 1970’s - the young and wild, traipsing-to-Saint Tropez years,” said Catherine Kwong. “I was doing research for a client and discovered all of these beautiful old photos of Mick and Bianca that depicted a wild romance. They were impossibly stylish and full of excitement, with a bit of scandal, of course. So I designed this room for them; a place for late-night parties with rock royalty and the jet-set. I wanted the room to be just like Mick and Bianca: luxe and decadent, but with a rock 'n roll edge.” The star of the room is the dramatic painted floor, which serves as a rich canvas for the room’s artful mix of luxurious textures, details and lines. Inspired by the iconic paintings of Cy Twombly, the floor was hand-painted in exuberant brushstrokes by decorative painting firm, Stancil Studios.
I am pretty sure that everyday this week has seemed like Friday to me and it is finally here! I love this sweet soft image (even though I like my dolls to have heads) it seems so relaxing. I have it bad for these vintage tufted chairs. We are planning our trip to France and I so hope to find one or two for my own home.
Wishing you a relaxing and wonderful weekend! Also, don't miss out on our giveaway!
I hope you had a wonderful holiday with family and friends. This space makes me think of my renewed feeling of cleaning up and simplifying my life after the holidays. After all of the cooking and cleaning of dishes I want to wipe the slate clean and make sure we can celebrate the upcoming holidays as simply as possible and really take the time to enjoy.
I have been seeing some lovely winter whites lately. The chair above makes my heart skip a beat! Wishing you a wonderful weekend, as fall really starts to kick in around here we are turning up the heat and adding layers, I am very excited!
Over the next few weeks we have some great giveaways scheduled and a holiday gift guide full of goodies which I cannot wait to share with you! I also wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who commented and emailed yesterday, it makes me feel very special to have such a great group of people who support me out there xo.!
I am falling for this look - New Traditional at it's best! A simple neutral backdrop with pops of color that can be changed out easily.
Things here are moving along quickly.. I have so many things that I would like to share and just not enough time to get them on the blog... Today I am on my way to Atlanta for the show, this is my first time there so I am super excited! I hope to see many of you there! If you want to keep up with me and all of the latest trends I will be posting on Instagram during the show. Check it out @ greigedesign or on Instagram.
Soft warm blues.. so lovely. I cannot believe it is already Friday (again). What do you have planned for the weekend? We are just catching up around here, breakfast plans with friends and the flea market on Sunday morning.
I wanted to show you a little update on my vintage sofa. I picked it up a little while back but have not had a chance to take a full picture of it. I love it- I went with the dark grey linen and added vintage wheels to bring it up a little bit for the room. I love love it!
What do you think? Have you had much success with reupholtsering vintage pieces?
One Kings Lane is currently running a color event. Of course my favorites are the neutrals.. There are some great pieces here to get you going on a space with grey accents. I am loving the sofa and the rug a little too much I think! If you just want to add a touch of my favorite neutral I am thinking you need these patent leather bound books..
