What I've been up to..

Wow I cannot believe it is Friday..  it has been quite a week and I have a lot left to do..  Anyway here is a little peek at what I have been up to this week.

I installed two different jobs this week and I am pretty sure this one is my favorite..  I love the colors and it came out the way I had imagined, which is always nice. You can see where it started below.

I just loved this succulent piece we made.  I have to have one made for me!

In other news we are moving forward at what seems an amazing rate on the pool area.  We had Brandon from Monkwood come and install our reclaimed wood wall in the cabana and I am in love with it! Everything still needs some finishing touches but once the cushion is made for the daybed he made and the pillows it is going to be an amazing oasis in there!  The "green" is coming tomorrow and I could not be more excited to see it in the place of the dirt that we have been living with for months.

Finished up...

When you work on a project for years it is so nice to finally have it wrap up.  It makes all the difference to see all of the decisions and hard work come together to make a space that you are really happy with.  Design is a collaboration between the designer, architect, builder, tradesmen and the client and when everyone is happy it is one of the best feelings you can have.  This is a little peek at a project that just finished up last month and we could not be happier with the results.  It feels so good to see it in use and working so well for everyone.

Vintage Fabrics: Batik

I have a little problem when it comes to this indigo fabric.. well I just cannot resist the beautiful details of each piece and how different they are.  (Please excuse the weird angle of the photo below).   I love these pieces with their intricate patterns and the soft hand of the fabric. The fabric pieces were made in China with a wax resist technique and each is unique, most of these pieces began as clothing and bedding and are now being re-purposed in all different ways.

As you can see I cannot resist the temptation with these pieces! Some of these will go up for sale, most are my personal collection, and I will be using some of the loose fabrics for upholstery projects that I have in the works.

While we were in LA for this quick little visit it was a beautiful day and the neighborhood was so pretty, so I snapped a few pictures.  I love how each house is so unique and full of character, this one was so cute!

what I have been up to..

Ahh.. it is so nice to be on this side of the installs that I had last week.  This was one of my favorites and I am excited to share it with you.  (Sorry I forgot my real camera just instagram and iphone pics for now.)  I hope you are looking forward to a relaxing weekend like I am, we are relaxing around the house and enjoying the sunshine today and then off to the Clippers game on Sunday to watch my little one cheer before the game.

Also, a BIG THANK YOU to Hinkley Lighting for including me in their 2013 catalog under Expert Advice!!  I was so thrilled to be included with the other amazing designers and experts!

Off course...

We have been busy at work here while the holidays are going on all around us.  This is a little peek at the project we just installed on Tuesday.  It is always nice to see it come to life when all of the pieces come together.

Wishing you a wonderful Thursday!  We have another install today- wish me luck!

Masculine & transitional...

A little inspiration for a Friday.  This is an inspiration board from my presentation this week.  I fell for the easy semi masculine feel of this one.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend and thanks for sharing a little bit of your day with me here, it is so nice to be able to share my work and ideas with everyone.

final...

Ahh,  a few little snaps from my final install of last week.  It was nice to put the major part of the work behind me.  There are always little changes to be made and switch outs that need to happen as with all installs.  It seems that inevitably there is something that arrives broken, in the wrong color or just does not arrive at all, and you have to be able to make the decision on a moments notice as to whether making a switch will change your vision for the project or if it will make it even better.
There is nothing relaxing or easy about the install days, it is a bunch of work with the greatest of rewards- a finished project!

2 Down...

Well another set of installs are done.. mostly.  We had no window coverings but hey those will be there on Friday and then I can take a bit better pictures.  That is the hardest part I think about installing design jobs is getting everything to come together on time and in the correct condition.  Inevitably something goes wrong but you learn to improvise and sometimes it ends up being better because you are actually in the space.
I was pretty pleased with these spaces over all.  We still have things to add and things to finish up but it was a good day of work.

If you want to see more photos you can check on instagram here or @greigedesign.

A little blue and orange

Just a little sneak peek at my installations from yesterday.  As always there are a few mis-steps here and there but everything went pretty well and I was pretty happy with how it went.
