Summer entertaining...

I am so excited for warmer nights and dining outside.  Where conversations last long into the night and the best of friends come together again...

Lights by the pool...

First off I wanted to say Thank you for all of your lovely comments on entertaining!  I always want to but it is hard to get everyone on board.  Maybe I need to just invite you guys over instead!
As I am sure you have heard we are in the process of working on a big project for ourselves here.  We are putting in a pool and I am so excited about the possibilities.  I love the idea of lighting outside the pool, candles on the deck, lights in the trees so moody and beautiful when reflected in the water.

Even though it is not the center of attention here I love it!
 Do you have a pool?
Have you ever done this when entertaining outside?
 I can hardly wait!

Entertaining..

Entertaining outside is my favorite with candle light and lighting in the trees.  It is such a fun simple way to extend your home with a long banquet style table and a graphic runner.

Do you entertain outside?  I would love to hear your secrets to keeping it special and intimate.

Living outside..

I am sure we are all waiting with baited breath for those long summer days in the warm air where we can just sit around and take it all in.  Things are no different here, we are getting mentally prepared for the slow down of summer.  This looks like the perfect place to take it easy and spend long evenings with family and friends.

a little time outside..

I hope you have been enjoying the holidays and a little time to relax after everything!  We are having the most beautiful weather here so I have been trying to spend time outside in the sunshine doing a little reading and relaxing.
I guess I need to stop all of that and get back to work...

but for now it is books and plans for the new year!

Late summer picnic

So we made it to the picnic last weekend.  It was beautiful out in the field, a little prickly when you were sitting down but still beautiful.  I always want to do things like this but never manage to get out there so it was really fun.  We had home made quiche, fruit, bread and cheese.
I fell in love with the wild flowers, the bushes were taller than me, which I thought was super cool.

I also want to give a big shout out to Andrea at The French Basketeer to say THANK YOU for the lovely bag!  It held our picnic blankets, our quiche and other goodies perfectly.  (I also used it at the store before we left to buy all of the goodies).
