In love with a set of doors...

So like I said - I fell in love with all of the doors at Versailles..  however, I think that these were my favorites..
They were the perfect color and simple and understated...
the stone surrounding them was perfection-
LOVED them...

Is it weird to love a set of doors?

So what are your plans for the weekend?

I think some work and relaxation here with the holiday and all!

Yes that is me in the bottom photo there..  don't get used to seeing me.. it is fairly rare that I am in any photos, as I am usually holding the camera.

Versailles in detail...

These are just a few of the images from our visit to Versailles.  It was amazing the amount of detail
that went into each room.  The doors were my all time favorite and the hardware was beautiful!

If you are traveling to Paris I highly recommend a visit to Versailles.  I may even go back again and skip the main house first thing to avoid the crowds and head straight for the smaller buildings and the garden.

It took us all day to explore the area and we were exhausted afterwards, but it was totally worth it..

driving myself crazy....

ok, i am not one that has this compulsive instinct about matchy/ matchy...in fact, i am far from that. but i am driving myself crazy trying to figure out if i feel like the lighting, hardware, and plumbing fixtures have to match....like do you think that if you have oil-rubbed bronze lighting and hardware, then should your plumbing (faucets, shower heads, etc.) be the same or are you at peace w/ making them something completely different like satin nickel?? i don't feel like in a house you have to be alllll one way or the other but in a space/ room i'm torn....

are we there yet??

i am currently working on a very nice spec (7,000 sq ft) home. and i am battling w/ the lighting....i want to know if the general public is there yet- are you ready for bronze/ antique brass to be back in your home? it is definitely coming back in a large way but are we ready for it? i think there is some great stuff out there right now and if i commit to putting it in this spec home is the general public going to know that it's making a big come back or are they going to view it as dated.....and then, say i do introduce it as the kitchen pendants and the DR chandelier am i commited to do every bathroom fixture in that finish...

bronze, the classy way of saying brass....

i can't believe i am writing about this but brass is creeping back into the design world. some of you may say "did it ever leave"...well, if that is what you are thinking- YES, it left! you must be one of those who are holding onto that chandelier that came w/ the house when you bought it in the early 90's. i think that if you put the word "antique" in front of brass- antique brass, it makes the word sound so much better. brass is something i associate w/ the 80's and early 90's...but lately, (can't believe i am saying this) i am loving some bronze/ antique brass looks . you will be seeing it in hardware, which is pictured above (thanks beach bungalow8). i love the way it reads in this kitchen and the light just screams cool. lighting is another place it will be found... and you will also see this finish in a lot of furniture design. i adore this lona design console in pale pink with bronze accents. so, i guess we must give brass...let me clear my throat- bronze/ antique brass another look. and forgive those nice people who have hung onto their beloved 80's brass chandeliers.....
