Masculine winter...

This space makes me want to start up that fire and pour a glass of wine.  I love that it has an air of mystery, what is up above?  How tall are the ceilings really?  It is pretty amazing!

Has fall turned cold finally for you?  We are finally starting to feel it here in California and I am glad for the change.

Little white sofa

I hope you had a wonderful holiday with family and friends.  This space makes me think of my renewed feeling of cleaning up and simplifying my life after the holidays.  After all of the cooking and cleaning of dishes I want to wipe the slate clean and make sure we can celebrate the upcoming holidays as simply as possible and really take the time to enjoy.

making a list...

As my birthday and the holidays inch closer I always feel the need to asses what I have done this year.  There are so many things I want to accomplish and share that I don't seem to get to.  There are also so many things that I have done this past year and I am thankful that I have been able to share many of them with you my lovely readers.  I have been thinking that I need to compile a list (I have tried it before) of things I would like to accomplish for the year not a resolution list but a list of dreams and ideas to be realized and developed.  Do you have list?  Is it written or mental?  I will admit I love lists, I am a list maker, I have been all my life.  I love to write them out to get my ideas straight and my focus in the right place.

Aside from that I thought you might like a little dining room inspiration to get you kick started for the upcoming entertaining whirlwind we are all about to embark on.  Isn't this beautiful and simple?

Gorgeous texture

It always amazes me how a little texture can add so much warmth to a space.  I love the walls in wood and all of the contrasts!

Light and bright {a favorite}

So you know how you love a photo of a room and you are a little surprised when you see the entire space, well I am sure you have seen this one before but I came across all of the photos together on pinterest and I am so in love with this space still!!!  It is so dreamy!

It was featured in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles back in 2007 and it is still one of my all time favorites so many years later.

Happy Saturday!!

Light Oak Wood Flooring

I have had wood flooring on my mind this week as I am specifying a big design job and have chosen to use a light oak wood flooring.  The flooring pictured above is by far one of my favorites and I have used it several times over the years.  We are debating on the chevron or some other pattern for the space as it is quite large.  I am looking to install this same floor in my Living and Dining area in the coming months also- which I am even more excited about.  Do you have a favorite that you have used?  If you do I would love to hear about it!

unplanned...

I love the idea that design would be unplanned.. I guess that then you would call it something else right?  Because Design is really the idea of planning out the space..

Inspiration (commercially speaking)

I am knee deep in the process of designing a commercial space right now and I am completely inspired by the work of AvroKO.  We are taking the darker library approach with an industrial modern twist.  I am excited to use some wood flooring treatments for paneling on the walls and adding a brick to the space to create a sense of age that is not already there.  All of the details are like a layering effect in the space.  I have found so many ideas and they are all swimming around up there just waiting to get down on paper and made in physical forms.
It should be fun to say the least!

Chevron and Herringbone wood floors...

I have said it before and I will say it again.  I love the look of Chevron and  Herringbone wood flooring.. as I love the fact that the French find it to be equally important in their beautiful apartments!  The floor makes the simplicity of this space just absolute perfection.

I have been daydreaming about wood flooring for our house for the past week or two.. keeping my fingers crossed that I can have some in before the holidays!

Thanks for the note...  on the flooring style... sometimes I am too quick with the typing!!!

greige in style...

The lovely Marie was sweet enough to send me a link to this beautiful pictorial on her home!
What an amazing job she has done in renovating the 100 plus year old home and making it into a modern eclectic space.  Her use of soft colors is just perfection!

To see more of her home check out the article in Capital Style and to see the piece that she purchased from My Sparrow check here...
