Vintage additions

I am starting to plan out my new kitchen and we have a huge built in pantry right now that I want to place with a beautiful cupboard to store all of my dishes and glassware.  I have been searching for the perfect piece to add that little something different to the space.  How amazing is this cabinet?  I love love this even though it would cut out a lot of storage space to have that beautiful curve it sure would be amazing!

What do you think?

greige kitchen

I know a beautiful kitchen may not be the first thing you want to see on a Monday morning but I do!  I have been given the green light to start my own kitchen renovation so I have been spending my free time gathering images and ideas to get me going!  I am always a little nervous to start my own projects...

I love love this one- so pretty and clean.

Vintage inspiration

Friday finally!  This weekend promises to be busy and fun on Sunday I will be going to the Long Beach flea market to pick up some accessories for the jobs I will be installing at the beginning of May.  It is always so fun to add some vintage pieces into spaces.

I am also hoping to get around to adding some items to our Vintage section of the shop for you also.  Things are finally becoming more manageable around here so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will get to share everything with you.

What about you what do you have planned for the weekend?  Something wonderful I hope!

upholstery...

I am so excited today is the big day that I take my sweet new sofa to the upholsterer!  I know that sounds crazy but it took me a while to decide on the fabric and then the pillows and so now that the fabric has arrived I am so excited to get this project underway.  I chose a dark charcoal linen for the sofa and one of Windsor Smith's new fabrics from Kravet for pillows, Kaveka in Java.  I am going to mix in some vintage fabrics with them.

It is going to be a completely different look for my space as my sofa now is slipcovered in natural linen.  Very exciting around here!  I will also be picking up some other pieces that I have been waiting for so I can finally take some photos of the new and improved dining room too.

What do you think?  Very dramatic right?

changes in the dining room...

This is a picture of my dining room from many moons ago..  I have been "changing" it for what seems like at least 2 years now.  I am struggling.. I want something unique, I want something that is a reflection of me, I want something I love..

So since this photo was taken I have painted the room Slate from Restoration Hardware, which I love.  I have taken down the mirrors and put up a sunburst mirror, which I was not in love with and I have traded chairs many times.  Now we are having some vintage chairs I found upholstered in vintage linen and I am so excited to say that I am picking up my new artwork today.  I had a pair of pieces custom sized for that wall.

Keep your fingers crossed that they came out perfect and that I like them on the wall!  Hopefully if they look super cool I will be able to share them with you when they are up.

I cannot believe we are already on Thursday- wishing a nice smooth transition into the weekend!

Mirror collages...

So I have been struggling with an idea for my dining room for over a year now I think... I just could not decide what it was that I wanted to do.  I have this weird window that makes the wall kind of hard to decorate.  I have debated over vintage doors, vintage mirrors, starburst mirrors all kinds of art and I just could not commit to any one thing.  So it finally has come to an end- I needed to fix it and then things just seem to fall into line.  It's always so nice when that happens.  I found this picture on Pinterest the other day and fell deeply in love!

I painted the walls in there Restoration Hardware Slate which I LOVE but the mirror I picked was just not doing it for me.  So I think I am going to give the vintage mirror/frame collage idea a go.  I originally had a reclaimed wood mirror collage.   So the clincher was when I received an email from a reader who owns a company that makes beautiful antiqued mirrors (which I have been searching for someone for a long time).  Leftbank Collection makes all types of antiqued mirrors which is perfection for this little project of mine as I can vary the style of the mirrors so they look collected over time and I can fit them to some vintage frames too.

I have always wanted to do this somewhere.. now I just have to find the right spot!

I love love the plain jane mirror here... so me!  I will definitely need to use one of these.

I am so excited!!!  I am going to see what I can find at the flea market over the next few months and fill in from there.

Dressed up for Christmas..

We had some freinds over on Saturday night for a holiday dinner party so I spent most of the morning with my daughter decorating the tree and the rest of the house.  We are ready now.. bring on the Christmas.  I just have to wrap up some gifts and finish a bit of shopping before I can completely relax and kick my feet up (as if that will ever happen).    I changed things up a little this year but it is generally the same as the last..

Wishing you a lovely start to a very busy week!

Our Master Bath...

It has taken a while, a long while, but our Master Bath is finally done.  I am so excited to have it complete and be able to use it again!  It is clean and simple just as I had hoped.  I am still working on accessories and I feel like I want to add something to the walls, but for all intents and purposes it is complete.

We finally decided to use the wall mounted faucets which I am very happy we did, it is just a little bit different from the norm.  We mounted them just above the back splash and they are great with the vessel sinks from Kraus.

I love the Walker Zanger tile accent, it is just what we needed for a little something special in the shower.

We used soapstone on the counter and bath tub.  Which is so pretty, a little delicate but it is perfection.

The counter is the perfect spot for a few little things like my new vintage vanity mirror from the Pasadena flea market and my new Barr Co. candle.  The cabinet we converted has a lot of storage so I can keep everything tucked away.

I think this is one of my favorite things!!  I love the custom sconces from Cleveland Art.  They are so beautiful the pictures do not even do them justice.  They were the last pieces to be put in and they truly finished the space up.

The shower was really hard to photograph so this is the best way to see it.  We opted for the rain shower head, love it, and a completely glass enclosure.  The remodel was a lot more work than I thought but a great experience, and I am so happy with the results.

Master Bath Updates

Our Master Bath updates are well under way!  I could not be more excited to get this project completed.  I chose all of the pieces very slowly, which is not normal for me- I was having a tough time making choices.  For the shower we are using Walker Zanger Studio Moderne  Petit Imperial in Jute as the inset with the small matching field tile and trim, I LOVE it!  It looks so amazing!  The sink will be a free standing piece with a limestone top, the kraus vessel sinks, Kholer wall mounted faucets and custom mirrors and lighting.

This is what the bathroom looked like last week (below).  Which was making me crazy.  Since then we have pulled all the tile as well as the mirror, sinks and cabinets, they were so bad.  I will be giving you an update next week on our progress, which I am excited to say does not included exposed insulation!
