The bed and the bath....

I am not typically one for heavy carving on beds and such, but this is just beautiful...

{Note this bath is in the bedroom too}

Organic Bath...

Just so perfectly imperfect feeling.  The door with the mirror in the back is the best..  I think I may have to do this in my dining room....What do you think?

Tavel Journal...

I simply love travel and travel journals. When I travel I try to take a little time to write about my trip so that I can remember the details.

Do you journal when you travel?  Do you journal in general?  I wish that I made the time more often it is such a great way to relax and get it all out when you are frustrated or overjoyed.

Flying today...

1916 House remodel.. a little before and after

This is a project that I worked on last month with a great customer of mine. The house was built in 1916 in Fullerton and was purchased and remodeled to be put up for sale. It is a really cute house that had a very old remodel done to it. The house just needed a little paint and some updates to bring it back to life. This was a very fun project for me!

I hope you like it!

Family room before.  The floors were beautiful - we had them refinished and they look even better.

The dining room before - a little too red for me.

This is the kitchen- WOW- beneath the linoleum was original douglas fir which was also sanded and finished and looks great!

The cabinet layout was a little off because of the original stove size and position- this space needed to be reworked.

The main bathroom - the only shower!
With a bad 80's remodel....

The Back bathroom

Front bathroom- a little tight in here (3 inches for your legs that is enough right?)

Remodel time...

The new living room look's so clean and the floors look amazing!

The new kitchen - does this even look like the same room?

We refaced the cabinets and the contractor reworked the corner what a major difference.  Also, the floors look wonderful (who would hide this with  linoleum?)

The dining room with fresh coat of paint.

The main bathroom with a new layout that maximizes the space and all new flooring and wall tile.  I love this room now!

The back bathroom all cleaned up with new sink, paint and fixtures.

The front bath with the sink moved into the adjoining closet and the old bath made into just the toilet room.

I was so excited to see how this all turned out.  What do you think?  Better?

Paint colors used...

All of the paints are from Sherwin Williams

Trim:  SW7014 Eider White
Main house:  SW7016 Mindful Gray
Main Bath: SW7018 Dovetail
Kitchen and secondary baths:  SW7017 Dorian gray

love....
the contrast you get with a dark grout and a classic, white subway tile.

clawfoot tubs

when i see an old clawfoot cast iron tub, i am immediately taken back to my childhood....i grew up in a 100+ yr old house that my parent's renovated themselves. all of the bathrooms, except for my brother's, had clawfoot tubs. they were great for taking baths- super deep so the water could get really high w/ out overflowing (except for the one time i fell asleep w/ the water on...the library ceiling unfortunately paid for that mistake). my mom painted all of the bottoms of the tubs. mine was (and still is) red. it matched an accent bird on a vintage scalamandre wallpaper that the previous owner's had in the bathroom. i hope that one day i can have a clawfoot tub in our house....and i, like my mom, would have to paint the bottom a fun accent color!

tile my wall please....

when it comes to kitchen and bathrooms, the more tile the better....take it up the wall to the ceiling, use it as a wainscoting.....start thinking beyond using it as just a back splash or to cover a shower area....the results are awesome!
