amazing in black and white...

I am loving this black and white with the added texture of baskets and woven pieces.  So simply fabulous.  I think it takes a certain level of control to keep to a wonderful color scheme like this and to make it work well.  Love love the striped rugs!

Grey in the kitchen

Grey makes a great accent in the kitchen too.  This island is amazing!  My kitchen has a island set up similar to this or it will when I am finished with it, I love the X detailing and the pendants.

for the boys...

This issue of Elle decor was super fantastic in my opinion!  The sofas in the first image make my head spin- they are so beautiful.  I love the non traditional furniture placement and sizing, it shows a very creative mind to think outside the normal relationships of pieces.  Altogether a beautiful space.

Art is up

Over the weekend I installed the new art pieces in my dining room and I adore them!  Sometimes I wonder why I wait so long to make a decision, it only took me 6 months to decided that these were what I wanted.  I should have purchased them the first time I saw them.

Are you an impulse buyer?  or do you take a long time to make decisions?
For me it depends on the piece...  but usually when I see something I want I know if it is going to work...

(I just got an iphone which I absolutely love..this is an Instagram pic)

California casual

This is one of my favorite styles- California casual with a little industrial vintage mix.  Fun easy going and comfortable while being stylish.  How could you really ask for more?

Bobby McAlpine in Veranda

It was nice to see something from Bobby McAlpine in the latest issue of Veranda.  I love the natural texture mixed with the simple color combination.  This is just a little peek- grab a copy for yourself!

Black and white storage.

I taken by this picture.  It is such a simple idea to have all white china.  It is easy but at the same time it seems impossible for me.  Maybe I should lean towards that light grey blue that covers my all time favorite dishes from Astier de Villatte.  That seems more reasonable right?  Just a whole cabinet full of them - dreamy.

thank you to elliot for the photo info!!!

Black and White (and a bit in between) by Celerie Kemble

I am a firm believer in the use of black in design, I am sure we all know that.  I think it gives that classic clean edge that every space needs.  I put this book on my Christmas list this year (I am a design book junkie) and I completely LOVE it!  I am amazed by how many of the photos in the book I have used here on the blog.

Celerie Kemble did a great job in bringing some great interiors together and she even has a chapter devoted to my sweet grey!!  So I have still got to read more of it but I thought I would let you all know that it is a great hard copy of some really great design photos out there with some great content on design itself brought to you in a very down to earth way.

Also, I added a little design library link on the bottom of the blog if you are looking for some great inspiration in hard copy most of my favorites are there!

French in black and white...

I am completely dreaming of visiting this amazing French Chateau - Château les Merles.  It looks so charming, I will have to see if I can work it into our trip to Europe next year.  I am already daydreaming of all the wonderful things that next year will hold for everyone.  I hope that it is a year of great things!

Can you imagine...  Have you started planning for next year (I know that I get a little ahead of myself sometimes)??

 Have a wonderful weekend!

Our Master Bath...

It has taken a while, a long while, but our Master Bath is finally done.  I am so excited to have it complete and be able to use it again!  It is clean and simple just as I had hoped.  I am still working on accessories and I feel like I want to add something to the walls, but for all intents and purposes it is complete.

We finally decided to use the wall mounted faucets which I am very happy we did, it is just a little bit different from the norm.  We mounted them just above the back splash and they are great with the vessel sinks from Kraus.

I love the Walker Zanger tile accent, it is just what we needed for a little something special in the shower.

We used soapstone on the counter and bath tub.  Which is so pretty, a little delicate but it is perfection.

The counter is the perfect spot for a few little things like my new vintage vanity mirror from the Pasadena flea market and my new Barr Co. candle.  The cabinet we converted has a lot of storage so I can keep everything tucked away.

I think this is one of my favorite things!!  I love the custom sconces from Cleveland Art.  They are so beautiful the pictures do not even do them justice.  They were the last pieces to be put in and they truly finished the space up.

The shower was really hard to photograph so this is the best way to see it.  We opted for the rain shower head, love it, and a completely glass enclosure.  The remodel was a lot more work than I thought but a great experience, and I am so happy with the results.
