Vintage Fabrics: Batik

I have a little problem when it comes to this indigo fabric.. well I just cannot resist the beautiful details of each piece and how different they are.  (Please excuse the weird angle of the photo below).   I love these pieces with their intricate patterns and the soft hand of the fabric. The fabric pieces were made in China with a wax resist technique and each is unique, most of these pieces began as clothing and bedding and are now being re-purposed in all different ways.

As you can see I cannot resist the temptation with these pieces! Some of these will go up for sale, most are my personal collection, and I will be using some of the loose fabrics for upholstery projects that I have in the works.

While we were in LA for this quick little visit it was a beautiful day and the neighborhood was so pretty, so I snapped a few pictures.  I love how each house is so unique and full of character, this one was so cute!

greige and pink...

I fell for the eclectic mix in this space, that and the windows and multiple fireplaces.  The wall color is fantastic and the little accents of pink and feminine touches are just perfection.  This is the home of Hilary Robertson, the owner of Mrs. Robertson in Ft. Greene and it is a divine mix of vintage and well traveled collections, just the way a home should feel.

Masculine lounge...

I fell madly for this room when I saw it in Atlanta Home and Lifestyles.  I love the masculine feel of the space and the contrast of the dark upholstery with  the white walls.  Another great detail is the way that designer Jimmy Stanton balances out the window with the stack of books and antlers.

Cisco Brothers Los Angeles

I have been working with Cisco Brothers for the past 10 years and I have never been disappointed!  Their attention to detail and beautiful styles are what make them one of my all time favorites as well as my go to companies when I am designing a project.

I have been using these hand blown jug lamps in a bunch of my projects as of late- so pretty either lit or unlit.

I was in their home store in LA a few months back to pull fabrics and took a few pictures..  They have showrooms all over - I highly suggest you check them out if you can!

Wing chair before and after..

It has been a while since I have had these back and I have been so bad about taking pictures of them.  I am so happy with the way they turned out and I think that they will just get better and better as I wash them and have them tighten up a bit.

Another busy week this week and I am looking forward to completing a few things around here and moving along with the bathroom.  I have been reading and trying to rest up enough so that I can get some things taken care of.

Another project that I have been working on for a little while installed a few weeks back.. I love love the way the banquettes turned out with the metal tables...  It was a very fun space, I cannot wait for the TV's to get in to see it in full effect!

Greige studio collection... {an introduction}

Just a brief introduction to my latest endeavor...

This is a collection of iron pieces that are inspired by classic designs that I have encountered and fell in love with.  I am so excited to share with you!

This fall I will be introducing an upholstered collection as well.  These pieces are currently available exclusively from our shop.  I will be adding pieces regularly so feel free to stop by anytime...

Crisp and Clean dining...

I totally fell for these images when the sweet Angela sent them my way for some kitchen nook inspiration!  So clean and really just perfect.  I am pretty sure I would loose my voice from yelling at the kids not to get anything dirty if I took this road, but it would look great for a few days!

Stay tuned for the design ideas for Angela's home coming next week...

Also, this week starting tomorrow I have some wonderful guest posts coming up!

Wabi Sabi...

When I saw these images on Skona Hem with the title Wabi Sabi I knew that it was a great way to describe the style I wish I had.  I am not sure that it makes total sense.  I love love the look in photos, but I am not so sure that I could live with the unfinished pieces...  I do have an unfinished concrete floor in my house but chairs might be different.  Could you live in the real thing- with the tattered pieces and the peeling paint or wall paper?
