greige in Paris

I took just a minute to peek at my photos from Paris this weekend in between getting ready for some presentations I have today and I really need to share some of the fun with you!  This is a little peek at the semi private tour we took when we visited Versailles this time.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that our container will actually be leaving France this week too!

Wishing you a wonderful start to the short Holiday week!

seeing orange...

I know we don't do a lot of color here on the blog but sometimes it is fun!  I keep coming across beautiful bright colors as Summer begins and we get to embrace the feeling of bright and fun things.

The orange in these spaces is bold and dramatic.  Such a big chance to take!
What do you think, do you go for it with color?  I have always held onto the idea that color and trends are for accents, these seem to go against that idea with a strong expression of orange.

Our Pool.. getting from there to here...

I finally feel like I can share a little of our pool installation and design with you because I feel like we have actually accomplished something.  So far the process has taken about 10 or 11 weeks and we are still knee deep in work, but we are swimming.  Everyone says we won't swim much after the first few months but that's okay we are living in pool bliss right now and swimming almost every day or evening and loving it.

Before we dug the hole we actually had grass and many many trees.  We pulled everything out to completely overhaul the yard.  It is big by Southern California standards and was begging for a pool.  We could not have been more excited to just have a dirt hole.  The first weekend (and the second) we sat out there and stared at it in the sunshine.

This was just 10 days after they started digging.. so excited!

Our fire pit area with gridded slabs.

Then came the concrete.  This was put in just a week or so before I left on my trip so I have an entire missing section of the progress here..  it went from this to a real live pool with water and everything while I was gone.

I also came home to this.. our cabana being built.  Which is still in progress. I cannot wait to get it all together!

There is still a lot to do and I promise to keep you updated..  We expect the sprinklers and the cabana to be finished at the end of this week, so soon we will be able to plant and put in grass.  I have never longed for green and trees so much in my life!  The details of this project have really been challenging and I am so glad to see it coming together!

Follow along on Instagram to see all of our progress..

creating interest with wallpaper...

I am not the biggest fan of wallpaper (I have had to strip a bathroom of paper that was put on with industrial strength glue) but this is pretty amazing if you ask me.  I love the bold graphic nature of these pieces and their ability to completely change the feeling of age in the rooms.

What do you think are you a traditional wallpaper fan?

dark beauty..

Feeling so inspired by the contrast in black details right now.  I think almost every space needs a contrast and why not use black to make it happen?  I find that I do the same with fashion.. a little black goes a long way!

Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday!

Grey and blue in the bedroom...

I wanted to thank you for your great advice on the lounges for the pool!  Who knew!  I stumbled across this clean clean bedroom and thought to myself what a relaxing palette.  Love the sconces, so simple they almost hide on the grey walls.

London Simply

When I saw this bedroom picture on pinterest I was in love.. upon investigation now I realize why.  I have posted bits and pieces of this beautiful home before.  The detail of the flooring transition in the hallway and the beautiful kitchen just a few weeks ago.  This is the London home of Rose Uniacke and David Heyman.  I love the simple clean feeling of everything with that touch of elegance that keeps it interesting, perfection.  I am not sure that there is a need to elaborate on my part it really speaks for itself!

intricate detail...

The detail is so amazing in this space.  I cannot even imagine in person how beautiful it must be!  I hope you are having a wonderful Tuesday!  Today I am so excited to visit a little vintage fabric pop up shop.  I cannot wait to share my finds with you.  I will admit that fabrics are one of my weaknesses, that along with books and purses and shoes, and clothes, and side tables... okay so I have a few weaknesses but fabric is at the top of the list- I suppose it could be worse right!?

Klismos dining chairs...

I am totally obsessed with the Klismos chairs, it seems I am not alone.  The chairs design dates back to the ancient Greeks so I see some staying power.  There are so many styles and types currently available it can be hard to find just the right piece.

These are beautiful and the legs are so elegant.

Clean and contemporary and I love the boxy feel of the back.

Simple and modern with upholstered seats and nail head detailing

.

I love the open rope style seat on these.

Contemporary legs and an open back.

These are the beauties that I am waiting on for my own kitchen with a little bit of it all and the contrast in color they are perfect for me!
