Casual Lux..

As the days grow warmer and longer and we start to dip our toes into summer I long for clean casual luxuries..  Fresh greenery, fresh from the farmers market fruits and berries, time worn linens and a mix of old and new.  It gives me a feeling of freedom and getting lost in the days where our schedule is less restricting and scheduled.
Looking forward to beach days, pool days, lazy reading days and little spritzings of work in between the fun with family and friends.

Happy Summer!

Grey in the bedroom..

We all know I love a good bedroom design... but this is a favorite.  The ceiling detail, the light, the view... need I continue.    I also just love the way the linen bedding is a soft accent to the concrete and the rougher feeling in the space.

Fresh Fresh

I feel so fortunate that we have a new Farmer's Market here right by the house every Thursday now.  It is so nice to have fresh French bread, fruit and veggies.  This week both kids went with me and they had to taste everything before they made their choices.  It was fun to watch them decide which peaches and grapes they prefered.  We typically will have fruit, bread and cheese with wine on these nights for dinner so we can enjoy how fresh everything is.

I also fell in love with my new linens that came in for the shop... love the rainbow accent on these hand towels so much fun!

Monogramming {etiquette}

Last week I was meeting with one of my super sweet clients and we got to talking about monograms.  It is a funny thing how the monogram seems to come in and out of style.  Currently it is in I believe...  correct me if I am wrong.  The thing is we both noted how we did not know the order or the appropriate monogram etiquette.  She told me that she looked it up online~and we both said "what did we do before google?"

As I have been seeing more and more of them around I thought you too might like to know more about monogram etiquette.  So here you go - straight from my google search to your computer.

A monogram is a motif made by overlapping or combining two or more letters or other graphemes to form one symbol. Monograms are often made by combining the initials of an individual or a company, used as recognizable symbols or logos.  Obvious right?  Well here is the thing I did not know that there is an order to things depending on what you are monogramming.

A traditional 3-letter monogram has the initial of the individual's last name (surname) set larger, or with some special treatment in the center, while the first name initial appears to the left of it and the middle name initial appears to the right of it. For example, if the individual's name is Mary Ann Jones, and Jones is the surname, then the arrangement of letters would be thus: MJA, with the surname initial set larger in the center, the M for Mary to the left and the A for Ann to the right.

Married or engaged couples may use two-letter monograms of their entwined initials, for example on wedding invitations. Married couples may also create three-letter monograms incorporating the initial of their shared surname. For example, the monogram MJA might be used for Michael and Alice Jones. However, monogramming etiquette for the married couple varies according to the item being monogrammed. Linens, for example, typically list the woman's given initial first, followed by the couple's shared surname initial and then the man's given initial (AJM).

So do you monogram?  I love it but don't do it as often as I should.  I think that they are great on gifts, maybe a note to add to my gift giving list this year.

casual french

I fell in love with this image when I first saw it, so relaxed and just so perfectly lived in.  The clock is my dream and I simply adore vintage signage letters.  I think that linen is the ultimate in casual luxury for slipcovers which the French seem to do so well.

Linen bedding..

I have been a huge fan of linen bedding for a long while now.  I simply love the softness of the sheets and the crumpled relaxed look of the fabric on the bed.  At first I was all about the natural color and now I am infatuated with the dark greys and the white.  This is what my bed seems to look like with the mix of the colors.. so natural and so relaxing!

Clean lines and linen...

I fell deeply in love with this home.  Absolutely amazing!  The mix of the linen, clean lines and heavy contrast make it so relaxing and beautiful.

Tote obsession...

This is a problem.. I am completely obsessed with totes and bags..  I was flipping through the new issue of Souvenir magazine and was clicking through on products that I liked, once I finished the magazine I realized that I had linked up to multiple websites, but each link was for a different bag.  So I guess I am obsessed just a little!!  I have bags everywhere in the house, I have woven bags holding my bath towels, picnic supplies, fabric samples- you name it!   I like woven, vintage, linen, pretty much anything that would carry goodies home from any kind of store or hold things at home, but I truly love to use them at the flea market and farmer's market- it feels great to come home without a single plastic bag wrapped around my goodies.

Do you love them like I do- have I lost my mind (don't answer that one)!?
