Gjelina, Venice

When I was in Venice last month I stopped in at gjelina on Abbott Kinney for a little lunch by myself.   Which is perfectly fun if you ask me.  I was a bit before the lunch rush and much of the restaurant was empty when I started taking photos inconspicuously with my phone.  I know it is bad but I like to take photos of things that make my imagination spin, and I was not sure if they would say yes.
It is one of the best restaurant interiors I have seen in California lately, and I fell for the boho charm that was pouring from everywhere, even the wait staff had a little boho hippy vibe going on.
They have a great vintage mix of furnishings and details, with a lot of communal seating which reminds me of  my favorite restaurants in France.

Usually a  restaurant with a great vibe will carry it all the way to the bath rooms.  Which they definitely did and they did it well.  I loved the little wheel to turn the water on and off mounted directly through the mirror.  Hello!

Super cool embossed wallpaper in the hall.

Not to mention that my lunch was amazing.  By the time I was finished the place was full and a little loud.  I left wanting to come back for more- with a friend even would be nice!

Long Beach Flea...

Yesterday was a beautiful day for the flea market.  I went to Long Beach flea and found some wonderful goodies!  It was very very busy so it was a little harder to take pictures but I seemed to manage.  Here is a little peek at what I saw and purchased.

Always a pleasure to see Trino and the boys from Atelier de Campagne!

beach time.. San Clemente, Ca

I made a little promise to myself for this year, well several actually, but this one involves you my lovely readers... I wanted to include more original content here on the blog.  I have a deep love for photography and I used to spend a lot of time taking photos, but had really abandoned it last year in the hurried life I was leading.  I promised myself that I would pick up my "big" camera and use it, really use it, try to capture more of my life in photos, my work in photos and all of the things that I want to share with you.  I found that through my love affair with instgram, that what I love most is manipulating the photos I take and the artistic part of changing them to how I want them to feel.  I hope you don't mind, it is just time to evolve a little here.

I am hoping that it will also give us a chance to see a little more of California, as in get me out of the office a little more to inspire me creativity.  Besides who doesn't love the beach in the middle of January!

{shop design} Joe's Jeans South Coast

I was working earlier this week (honestly working) and stopped for lunch in South Coast Plaza.  I was so excited to see that they had finally opened the Joe's Jeans shop.  From my lunching vantage point I was able to see there fun window display of hanging vintage items.  Loved that!
I was lucky enough to be able to chat with the sales people in the shop about design and the great look they had going on.  I cannot wait to see what they have in store for the holiday displays.

They did a great job of mixing vintage and new and the texture in the space was so well used.  I completely loved the rainbow colored jean wall.

Their room within the space was created from vintage windows and doors painted in a heavy white.
